An announcement has been made that another attempt will be made at the Bosch Hockenheim Historic in 2013 to set the world record for the "largest parade of historic cars". The application has been accepted by the London-based "Guinness World Records" institution which was established in 1955. The date has been set for Saturday 20 April 2013 at 06:00 p.m.

To set the world record, there must be at least 949 vehicles aged 30 or older (up to 1983) parading around the 4.574-kilometre Grand Prix course at the Hockenheimring. The current record stands at 948 classic cars and was set in 2002 at the Zandvoort racecourse in Holland. To set the world record, there must be at least 949 vehicles aged 30 or older (up to 1983) parading around the 4.574-kilometre Grand Prix course at the Hockenheimring. "We want to get over 1,000 classic cars on the racetrack to set the new record", said a confident Wolfgang Huter, demonstrating his determination ahead of the Bosch Hockenheim Historic 2013. "We came so close last year to achieving our goal and learnt that we have to act more swiftly to organise an event with this amount of vehicles. So we have made the signing-up process even more efficient", continued the man masterminding the organisation. It is therefore possible to log on to www.hockenheim-historic.de and sign up in advance. The numbers will then be sent out before the event and will entitle the holders to free access to turn 2 on 20 April 2013 from 01:00 p.m. onwards. Drivers and passengers starting here can attend the event free of charge.
Last-minute arrivals can sign up on 20 April 2013 between 01:00 p.m. and 05:00 p.m. in car park "P1". Drivers and passengers starting here can also attend the Bosch Hockenheim Historic free of charge. All participants must be back at their vehicles at 04:00 p.m., however, in order to take up position for the world record attempt. The estimated time of admission to the Hockenheimring is 06:00 p.m. and this will be the start of the attempt to set the record.
Georg Seiler, Director of Hockenheim-Ring GmbH, is particularly looking forward to the moment when hundreds of different vehicles of all kinds will drive on the racetrack. "This is one of the most emotional moments of the whole weekend for me", he said, "and the participants and spectators love this unique journey through the history of car manufacture spanning several decades".
The event organiser is calling for all classic car owners whose car is at least 30 years old to come forward now and is especially hoping for support from the owners and enthusiasts club. Secure your place at this special event now!
